On Thursday, August 13th at approximately 12:42 a.m. the Portland Police Department responded to the area of State Street at Grant Street for a serious motor vehicle accident. The accident involved a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2000 Chevrolet 1500 pickup.
The pickup was traveling on State Street when it was struck on its passenger side by the motorcycle; which failed to stop for the stop sign on Grant Street at State Street. Speed appears to be a factor.
The motorcyclist, a 27 year old male from Freeport, was transported from the scene to Maine Medical Center with serious injuries. The operator of the Chevrolet Pickup, a 23 year old female from Sebago, and her passenger, a 39 year old male from Harrison were transported to Maine Medical Center as a precaution.
The incident continues to be under investigation by the Traffic Division. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to call the Portland Police Traffic Division at 874-8532.
