Get Creative with WENA (West End Neighborhood Association)!
Here are two opportunities to have fun, try something different, meet new people, and make something with friends and neighbors. Free and no registration necessary.
First Friday, September 4, at Maine Clay Collaborative, 65 Hanover St.

Drop in any time from 5 to 7 p.m. to help celebrate the West End’s urban forest and get your hands dirty exploring Maine Clay Collaborative’s First Friday Clay Play.
Make a ceramic print of a leaf from a West End street tree, give the pottery wheel a try, and meet the Maine Clay community. No experience necessary. We invite all ages, West End neighbors, families, First Friday visitors, and anyone curious about clay to Join In! Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting muddy.
August 11–September 7 – Paint a Community Board for Clark Street Park
The Louis Armstrong song “What A Wonderful World” is the theme for 106, 4 inch x 4 foot boards to be painted with animals, plants, and other natural features. We will install them on sections of the chain link fence outside Reiche Community School in mid-September.
You can pick up a board at the West End Neighborhood Association’s annual picnic at the park on August 11th (see announcement) or contact hello@wenamaine.org to make arrangements to get a board.
Paint it with your friends, family or by yourself and return it by September 7. Join In! and be part of your neighborhood. Detailed instructions for painting and returning the board will come with it when you pick it up.
