The Friends of Evergreen Cemetery have scheduled over a month of free fall tours. The tours are scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays from September 12th through October 31st.
The tours are a part of Friends of Evergreen’s commitment to historic research and public education.

Experienced docents lead the tours which last for 60 to 90 minutes. All tours begin at the visitor map outside the cemetery office.
Tours are centered on either events, such as the 1898 S.S. Portland disaster, or on famous or forgotten 19th Century people buried in Evergreen.
The fall tours are free and no advanced registration is necessary.
On Thursday, October 8th at Noon, there will be a commemorative tour centered on the Wreck of the Otraska (October 8, 1861). Seven young Portland men left Portland Harbor for a day of fishing aboard the Otraska. Outside Diamond Cove a sudden squall capsized the boat, and all but one of the men drowned. Five of the men are buried in Evergreen.
