The City will host two community conversations at the end of April in order to receive input from citizens and to further explain this year’s municipal budgetary process. The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 28th at 6:30 p.m. at Deering High School in the Cafeteria. The second meeting will be held Wednesday, April 29th at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall in the State of Maine Room.
As a precursor to the community conversations, the City created a short, high-level overview video to explain the municipal budget. More information will be provided during the meetings. The City is asking citizens to watch the video and complete a short survey at the end. Survey results will help shape the discussions during the community conversations and will also be shared with the Mayor and City Councilors prior to their final vote on the budget.
The survey will remain open until Tuesday, May 5th. It can be accessed at the end of the video or directly here.
These community conversation meetings are in addition to the other opportunities that the public has to weigh in on the budget process – Finance Committee meetings in April and the City Council meetings on May 4th and May 18th.
