This was not a good election for voters in the West End. Despite Portland voters picking Michaud and Bellows by large margins yesterday, the rest of the state out voted us. We will have four more years of LePage and six more of Susan Collins. Also, Portland voted Yes on 1 with over three-quarters of the vote, but statewide the referendum was defeated. In another race of note, Justin Costa won the District 4 (Back Bay and East Deering) City Council seat with 51% of the vote (2,859 votes) in a three-way race against Rosemary Mahoney (21.25%, 1,188) and Raymond Ruby (27.62%, 1,544).
