Wes Pelletier Wins – Portland District Two City Council Results

Wes Pelletier stands victorious in Portland’s second district city council race, representing the neighborhoods of the West End, Parkside, St. John -Valley Street, and Oakdale/USM. Current councilor Victoria Pelletier chose not to run for reelection, and the open seat drew a lot of attention with five candidates entering the race.
On Tuesday, November 5th, Pelletier won the first round of ranked choice voting with 2,241 votes but only obtained about 34% of the vote against competing candidates, Atiim Boykin, Nancy English, Catherine Nekoie, and Robert O’Brien. The ranked choice voting tabulation took place on Wednesday, November 6th at City Hall and was open to the media and public. After five rounds of counting, Pelletier won with 2,971 votes (53%) topping the final challenger Nancy English with 2,620 votes.
