Northern Light Mercy Hospital is pleased to welcome a new oncologist, Milaim Mustafa, MD, to Northern Light Mercy Cancer Care. Prior to joining Mercy, Dr. Mustafa practiced at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
“Based on my family experience with cancers, I understand how difficult it is to receive such a diagnosis,” said Dr. Mustafa.
“That’s why it’s important to me to approach each case individually with empathy and design the best treatment plan for the best outcome.”
Dr. Mustafa received a Bachelor of Science from the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. He received his Doctor of Medicine from American University of Antigua College of Medicine in Coolidge, Antigua. His residency was at Richmond University Medical Center in New York. Also, Dr. Mustafa attended fellowship training in hematology and medical oncology at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. In addition, he is board certified in hematology and medical oncology.
Dr. Mustafa, who lives in the area with his wife and two children, is a member of the American Society of Hematology; American Society of Clinical Oncology; American College of Physicians; and the Albanian American Medical Society.
In 2018, Northern Light Mercy Hospital announced a collaboration with New England Cancer Specialists (NECS). This expanded our cancer care program. Our new oncologist Dr. Mustafa is the most recent NECS provider to join Mercy’s cancer program, where his sole focus is on serving Mercy Hospital’s patients.
