Verra’s Story
MY STORY: English language learners from Portland Adult Education share their story in their own words.
My name is Verra. My goal is to study in university and get a good job. When I have a lot of money I will buy a big house for my family in Burundi. I want to work for the President in the White House. I would like to live in Washington.
Now I haven’t a job but I help my friend take care of her children. In the past I worked in Burundi. I am a journalist.
I have two friends in Burundi. One friend’s name is Vanessa. She works in the supermarket. She likes singing American songs. I have another friend named Ariella. She lives in Bujumbura. She is a student. She likes to eat chocolates. I miss her so much.
I love dogs and roosters. I saw a crocodile in Lake Tanganyika. I don’t like rats or bats. I am afraid of tigers.
