Enjoying Monday Night Events at Reiche
Now that the Reiche community Center is thankfully open I have been enjoying a variety of Monday night events.
I look forward to these activities each week, especially during the dark cold evenings of winter. Plus as a bonus, there is no charge. Light refreshments provided.
From lectures, international films/art films/classic films, Maine book/reading group, family film night, and speed debating. There is something for everyone.
I’m being entertained, educated, and energized.
For example: The 3rd Monday of the month from 6:30 – 8 p.m. is a fascinating program, The Memento Mori Death Education Series facilitated by Death Education Specialist, Leona Oceania.

Morning Exercise Class
I enthusiastically want to encourage and invite you to participate in the morning exercise class at Reiche Community School.
It’s free, it’s one hour, it’s four days a week, 7:45 ‘til 8:45 a.m. Come once a week or all four days, it doesn’t matter, entirely up to you. Format is informal. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays we watch a CD and follow instructions on strengthening, balancing, and stretching. Sometimes we sit, sometimes we stand. On Fridays, we try TaiChi.
We are all at various states of fitness. No judgement, no competition, no baloney. Just a friendly easy place.
Masks are required and a three-foot distance is maintained. Sign ins are required for contact tracing. Enter the building at the Clark Street Entrance and proceed to the second floor.
We are a friendly group looking to share a routine that feels great. I sincerely hope that if you are at all interested you will give this a try. “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.” Email me at shunt2951@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Death Education Series
Last Monday I was fortunate to have attended a presentation on death education at Reiche Community Center. The essence was to get the audience comfortable about the experience of preparing for that eventuality we all will face someday. The topics ranged from help during the dying process, through some of the options available for dealing with the deceased after the patient has died. Discussions were held about the legal requirements and various methods to complete the process.
Leona Oceania, the presenter was very knowledgeable, articulate, responsive to all questions, and successful in her efforts to generate a very positive attitude about a difficult subject we all face in our future. I would like to pass on my appreciation for Leona’s enlightenment and recommend everyone attend this type of awareness lecture if they have the opportunity. Thank you, Leona!
