Since May, the City of Portland has seen an unusual rash of six bank robberies, the most recent of which occurred last Friday.
The Portland Police Department worked with the F.B.I. and neighboring police departments to solve all of the recent bank robberies. The suspected perpetrators of these crimes are all incarcerated at this time, either for bank robbery or other charges. It is anticipated that indictments will be issued in all of the robberies.
“We have all heard the expression that crime does not pay, and we want to reinforce that sentiment,” says Police Chief Michael Sauschuck.
“Disguises and advanced planning have not protected the criminals that committed these crimes. And they will not prevent the apprehension of others who might seek to profit through bank robbery in the future. It is worth noting that a conviction for bank robbery can carry as much as a 30 year prison sentence.”
