Catholic Charities Maine Hosts World Refugee Day Celebration
Catholic Charities Maine presents Portland’s World Refugee Day Celebration on Saturday, July 8th from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cheverus High School (267 Ocean Avenue). The free event will include a community dinner featuring cuisine from the home countries of Maine’s own refugee community. Plus, enjoy live multi-cultural performances, family-friendly activities and art.
World Refugee Day is a global celebration. It is held annually to recognize the courage and struggles of the more than 21 million refugees worldwide who are displaced by war and persecution.
Presented by Catholic Charities Maine, this celebration is made possible thanks to the support of UNUM, Bangor Savings Bank, C. Port Credit Union, the John T. Gorman Foundation, Wayside Food Programs and St. Maximilian Kolbe Church.
The event is free. However, tickets are required for entry and can be reserved online at http://ccmaine.org/WRD.
