Perspectives from the Sky: Astrological Forecast May 2016
by Leo Knighton Tallarico
We move into May with many planets going Retrograde, most importantly Mars and Mercury. Mars will stay retrograde until June 29th. Mercury will be Retrograde until May 22nd.
With Mars Retrograde, the planet of self assertion, will, action, force, desire, and initiation is on a break. It is time to reflect on what one truly wants, and where one truly wants to go with one’s life. It is also time to retrace where one has gone before, to look at how one has used one’s will in the past.
Were you too willful or too passive in past situations?
It is also time, with Mars Retrograde, to look at how one handles anger; to look at how one has been forceful with others, how easily one asserts their own needs.
It is not a time, generally speaking, to take any big new actions in your life, or to make any important start ups.
It is a good time to review one’s life and one’s past, and often people from one’s past will come back through dreams, clear waking memories, or in actual reality.
Mercury Retrograde, as usual, is a time to shift one’s perceptions and thinking. It is a better time to reflect and imagine than it is to logically figure things out. You may find dead ends in your left brain thinking process. Thinking outside the usual boxes is best now.
It is not a good time to make important decisions or to do any big projects. Often one feels in a kind of Twilight Zone with Mercury Retrograde, and thinking can at times be more confusing or difficult.
So May 2016 is not a good time to move forward in any big way. Though we are collectively now in a New Era, May is more a month to ponder and wait then get going with anything important.
There has been so much change lately, that it is good now to process and learn instead of act.
Look at our greater world. Who would have thought a year ago that someone like Donald Trump could be President of the USA? We are on pause before there will be even greater changes in our world this year and next.
It is a good time this month to enjoy nature or what makes you feel secure and comfortable There is a New Moon in Taurus on May 6th at 3:30 p.m., and that fits the need for nature and comfort.
It is also a good time to get your finances in order, to fix up your home and land; more so to enjoy your home and land.
Taurus is practical and has much common sense, which will take you a long way this month. Intellectual complications can wait till Gemini time.
On May 9th Jupiter, the planet of expansion and upliftment, goes back Direct again. It is in Virgo and expansion of efforts to put your life in better order are in alignment.
There is a turning point initiating on May 20/21/22, as the Sun goes into Gemini on the 20th; there is a Full Moon at 5:14 p.m. on the 21st; then Mercury goes back Direct on the 22nd.
We now switch to more mental energy and more desires to talk and communicate. But do not talk yourself into any impulsive moves, as Mercury and Mars are still Retrograde.
Do not start up any big adventures. It is a good time to take a class or to learn something new. Gemini is good at questioning and finding and delivering information and facts. But it may have a difficult time getting to the point.
Sagittarius is more pointed and needs answers, understanding, solid opinions, and meaning. It does tend to judge situations and not let in other possibilities. Gemini perceives, Sagittarius judges.
Now there is likely to be a lot of information to be sorted through, with challenges to find answers and conclusions.
And as Mercury changes directions from Retrograde to Direct on the 22nd, confusion may reign that day. But since Mercury is going Direct, it will not be long before clarity appears.
Give it a few days to be sure.
On May 26th Jupiter squares Saturn. Jupiter is expansive and uplifting with a “positive” vibe. Saturn is contracting, represents gravity, and has a “negative” vibe.
Jupiter says go for it. Saturn says be careful.
On a more social level, Jupiter is the “good cop” in society, telling us our rewards for doing what is expected of us. Saturn is the “bad cop” in society, telling us our punishments if we do not do what is expected of us.
They have a 20 year cycle together. Each cycle begins when they conjunct each other which means they are in the same spot in the sky. Their last conjunction was in May 2000 in Taurus. George Bush was about to be crowned President. That brought in a new season of our lives, as soon Terrorism and Homeland Security would be household words.
This was a turning point between efforts to evolve and revolutionize on the one hand, and conservatively putting a firm lid on progress.
Now with Jupiter squaring Saturn this year, we are in the last part of their cycle together before a new cycle begins in 2020-21 when Jupiter and Saturn conjunct at 0+ degrees of Aquarius, effectively bringing the dawning of the Age of Aquarius.
So we have 5 more years to work out what these planets represent. How much transformational change will there be over these years (often chaotic)? And how much domination and control (fascism) will be forced on us to stop the changes?
These will be very important years.
See you in June,
Leo
