Perspectives from the Sky
By Leo Knighton Tallarico
May 2017
As May begins we are experiencing the waxing (growing) half of the lunar cycle, which began with a New Moon in Taurus on April 26th.
New beginnings from last month (Aries cycle) become more grounded in reality this month (Taurus cycle). Or they cannot take root and end.
All the world turmoil during the Aries (ruled by Mars) lunar cycle in April included war drums with North Korea, chemical weapons used in Syria, USA bombing in Syria, Russia and USA conflict amping up.
Let’s see if the month of May grounds these issues into manifestation or sees them die on the vine.
Whatever still has life this summer could result in something much more deadly in and around August, when the next Eclipse Season erupts. There will be two eclipses that month. One of which is a very powerful Total Solar Eclipse in Leo that travels across the entire USA for the first time since 1918.
This year, 2017 is a turning point that will show us much about the direction of the world economy, as well as how the shifting power balance in the world shakes out. There is danger of a seriously falling economy and very powerful world conflicts.
Of course I believe we are in transition between ages, with an Age of Aquarius on the horizon. But first we will experience the dark fall of Rome in the hands of a modern day Emperor Nero or Caligula — namely Donald Trump.
A Clearing as Venus and Mercury Go Direct
Besides being in the waxing half of the Taurus lunar cycle as May 2017 begins, we also are still in the throes of Mercury retrograde until May 3rd.
After May 3rd, there will be a clearing up of the air in our minds. So we can be more confident of how our minds are perceiving and thinking. Decisions should be easier to make. Also, expect that clarity and direction will be easier to find.
It may take up to a week or so for total clarity and direction to form. World issues and events will take more defined form after that, also.
Retrograde periods, and we have had both Venus (heart issues) and Mercury (head and mind issues) going retrograde lately, show us a kind of rewind in our lives. We look and even experience how it used to be.
And now in early May both those planets are back to normal Direct motion, so we can now see more clearly the state of our relationships, security issues, and our belief systems and mental viewpoints.
The Wesak Full Moon
On May 10th at 5:42 PM EDT we experience a Full Moon in Taurus/Scorpio, an annual full moon called the Wesak Full Moon.
Many believe that the Buddha’s birthday was at a Wesak Full Moon in May.
The opposition of Sun in Taurus and Moon in Scorpio in this full moon shows us energy being taken in (Taurus) and released (Scorpio). This can be through the digestive process with Taurus consuming food and Scorpio releasing through eliminating waste products from our body. Taking breath and releasing breath also has an in and out rhythm, as does sex, ruled by Scorpio and Taurus.
Instead of working together, however, sometimes Taurus and Scorpio tend to stubbornly hold their ground and not budge from a position. So tugs of war between people often happen at this full moon.
Scorpio tends to be intense and internally emotional. Meanwhile, Taurus tends to be solid and stoic. They are good compliments for each other, if they are not pushing each other away. Taurus does not like intensity and confrontation, while Scorpio does not like to be bored by a dispassionate presence or life.
And this full moon is a turning point into the waning “slowing down” last half of the lunar cycle that began at the New Moon in Taurus. It is time to settle into things and experience the Moon’s light dimming until the next new moon, a New Moon in Gemini on May 25th.
Taurus Giving Way to Gemini
Before we get to that more mercurial and fast paced Gemini lunar cycle, we still remain in the slower and more grounded and body-oriented Taurus time of year.
Do not push to get things moving against the grain, as fixed Earth Taurus does not like to move. But it does like to enjoy the pleasures in the body and likes to be comfortable and secure while waiting for things to move.
Then on May 20th things begin to shift as the Sun moves into Gemini. The mind and communication pick up speed. Also, things that are more mentally interesting begin to crop up.
Then on May 25th at 3:44 PM EDT the Moon catches up with the Sun to form a New Moon in Gemini.
It is time to get going, especially around taking or giving classes or being involved in communication projects. Information coming in may at times feel overwhelming and difficult to integrate or find solution to.
Trump and USA Natal Charts Aligning
The USA president Donald Trump is a Sun in Gemini, born June 14, 1946 at 10:54 AM in Jamaica, New York. He is typical of the sign in that he shifts and often changes his mind. He also typically just says what is on his mind, without filter as Gemini is prone to do. It tends to, without censor, to take information in, and deliver it out to others in a matter of fact way, not recognizing the effect it may have on others.
He was born at a Full Moon, with the Moon in Sagittarius directly opposite the Sun in Gemini.
His Sun is at 22 degrees Gemini and his Moon is 21 degrees Sagittarius. The USA natal Mars is at 21 degrees of Gemini, and so this warrior placement of that USA Mars is very connected to Donald Trump’s Sun and Moon.
This is one reason I intuited his becoming the Republican nominee and President of the USA. I have found that the more a candidate is connected to the USA natal chart, the greater likelihood that person is meant to be president.
This Gemini New Moon is not near the same degree of Trump’s Sun or the USA Mars, so neither should be triggered to create big events at that time
Planetary movements in July/August, however, when the powerful eclipses are also experienced, is when the USA Mars and Trump’s Sun and Mars will be triggered. There should be very important events erupting around that time.
Till June,
Leo
