Police are investigating two armed robberies that occurred on February 6th and February 11th.
The first incident occurred on Friday, February 6th, at about 10 p.m. Two woman were walking on Congress Street near Lincoln Park when a man robbed one of them.
The man pointed a handgun at a 56 year old Falmouth woman and grabbed her purse. There was brief struggle, but once the woman realized the man had a gun, she surrendered her purse.
The perpetrator fled on foot and was seen entering a dark colored sedan, possibly an older four door Mercedes Benz. The suspect is described as a male, possibly mixed race or having a dark complexion. He is 5’07” to 6’00” tall and medium build with scruffy facial hair.
The second incident occurred on Wednesday, February 11th, at about 11:40 p.m. A 25 year old Portland woman walking in the area of 148 Clark Street was robbed at gunpoint.
A man approached from behind, displaying a gun and demanding her purse. After taking her purse, the perpetrator fled down Clark Street.
The suspect is described as a black male wearing all black clothing, with a black jacket and scarf. He was about 5’11” tall and has a slight build.
Police are concerned that the crimes may be connected and urge everyone to be cautious. Remain aware of your surroundings, stay in well lighted areas and report any suspicious activity to 911.
