Portland Police Investigating Another Attack in West End
Portland Police are investigating a West End attack that happened on Tuesday, June 8th, around 10:25 p.m. The victim, a 24-year-old woman, was walking home from work around 250 Brackett Street. This follows an attack that occurred on May 5th, where a female was punched several times while on Gray Street.
On June 8th, a witness reported that a suspect, described as a tall and thin white man, ran up behind the victim and hit her in the head with some sort of club or blunt object. The victim was treated at the scene and later taken to the hospital.
The suspect in this case was described as wearing a gray hoodie and a ball cap and was last seen running away on Carleton Street. If anyone witnessed this incident or has any information that could help police solve this crime, please call (207) 874-8575.
May 5th West End Attack
The Portland Police are also investigating an attack that happened on the night of Wednesday, May 5th around 9:40 p.m. on Gray Street. A female victim reported being punched several times in the face and head. The victim told officers that she was out walking and talking on her phone when she felt someone tap her on the shoulder. When she turned around, a male suspect punched her in the face, and she fell to the ground. The suspect continued punching her before leaving the scene in an unknown direction.
The suspect in the May 5th incident is described as a white man with a slim build, standing between 5’5”- 6’ tall and was wearing dark clothing and possibly a ski mask and hood.
Portland Police remind residents to always be aware of their surroundings and to stay in well-lit areas. Try to walk in groups when possible. If in immediate danger, call 911 and try to get the attention of other people in the area.
