First Monday Gatherings
Thanks to all who came to the first monthly gathering of interested community members for the West End Aging in Place efforts. Our plan is to meet the first Monday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Reiche Community Center (166 Brackett Street).
On Monday, April 3rd, please join us from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to hear Matt Goldfarb explain the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), better known as Senior College. OLLI offers many services and opportunities that you may not know about.
At our March 6th gathering, the results of our West End Aging in Place Survey were summarized. Presentations on the evolving Portland Area Villages prompted questions and interest about our group joining the Villages Community. We are just beginning the fun parts of this process: making things happen!
And for this we need your help.
Volunteer Community Members Needed
The survey results show great interest and support for an Aging in Place initiative in the West End.
What might we as a community be able to offer for support and services to those who wish to age in place? We need you to help with these next steps…
We need energy, enthusiasm and commitment to help with this endeavor. What do we want to do, and how do we do it? If you are interested in helping, please respond to this update by letting us know. We’ll have a gathering of interested people in the next few weeks to decide where we go from here! Email us at wecanaip@gmail.com.
