Wayside Food Programs holding food drive at Whole Foods Market
To replenish its shelves, Wayside Food Programs is holding a three-day food drive April 27th through 29th that will be hosted by Whole Foods Market, located at 2 Somerset Street, in Portland.
Running from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, the drive will focus on collecting food for families served by Wayside and its partner agencies.
Wayside Food Programs collects and distributes food to more than 40 agencies, including soup kitchens, food pantries and other social service providers across Cumberland County. Also, Wayside runs free community meals at sites in Portland and Westbrook, and its own mobile food pantries.
The following items are in high demand: canned beans; peanut butter; canned tuna; rice; kids healthy snacks; mac and cheese; and pasta sauce.
