Veterans Day Ceremonies in Portland Tomorrow
Parade Along Congress Street & Wreath Laying Ceremony at City Hall
Veterans Day ceremonies in the City of Portland on Friday, November 11th, include the Veterans Day parade from Longfellow Square to City Hall at 10:30 a.m., and the wreath laying ceremony at City Hall at 11:00 a.m. following the parade.
The Harold T. Andrews Post 17, American Legion, will host the Veterans Day parade and wreath laying ceremony in front of City Hall. The parade will begin at Longfellow Square at 10:30 a.m. and proceed down Congress Street ending at City Hall Plaza at approximately 11:00 a.m. There will be speakers and a wreath laying ceremony. Guest speakers include: Ernest Shorey, Andrews Post 17, American Legion, Master of Ceremonies; Portland Mayor Ethan Strimling; and Reverend William Doughty, Invocation and Benediction.
TRAFFIC ADVISORY
Vehicular traffic will closed along Congress Street and the side streets that lead onto Congress from State Street to Pearl Street from 10:00 a.m. to approximately 11:00 a.m. The section of Congress Street in front of City Hall between Chestnut and Myrtle will remain closed until 11:30 a.m.
