A serious bicycle accident occurred on the afternoon of October 29th, on Allen Avenue at approximately 3:10 p.m. A bicycle operated by a 45-year-old man from Portland collided with a tan 2010 Toyota Tundra pickup truck hauling a trailer. The truck was operated by a 69-year-old man from Steep Falls.
The accident occurred while the pickup truck was taking a left turn from Yale Street onto Allen Avenue and collided with the bicyclist traveling northbound on Allen Avenue.
The bicyclist suffered serious internal injuries and is in serious but stable condition at Maine Medical Center.
The accident is under investigation by the Portland Police Accident Reconstruction Team. Allen Avenue was closed from Morrill’s Corner to Allen’s Corner during the on-scene investigation for about two hours. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
