Suspicious Person Enters King Middle School
At 8:48 a.m. on Monday, May 15th, 2023, officers were dispatched to King Middle School for a report of a suspicious person who had entered the building. Upon arrival, police were directed to a 43-year-old man who was then near the Deering Oaks Park entrance. Investigators charge that the perpetrator entered the girl’s bathroom and offered a female student hypodermic needles. Police arrested the suspect and charged him with Criminal Trespass, Violation of Privacy, and Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention, Physical Force.
Incident Near Portland High School Ends Peacefully
Portland Police responded to a report of a disturbance with a possible firearm at 25 Cedar Street, 6:45 a.m., on May 10th, 2023. Out of an abundance of caution, Portland High School stopped using the front entrance of the school. After a brief time, officers detained and questioned a 31-year-old man peacefully. The suspect was later released and no had been charged as of publication. Police served a search warrant at the address.
Two Injured in Shooting near 600 Block of Congress St
At 8:16 p.m. on May 9, 2023, Portland Police responded to a report of a shot fired in the 600 block of Congress Street. Minutes later, police stopped an involved vehicle in the Walgreens parking lot at 616 Forest Avenue.
Officers determined that a 20-year-old Portland man had suffered a gunshot wound, while 21-year-old male sustained injuries from a vehicle. Both men sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to Maine Medical Center.
During the subsequent investigation, authorities executed a search warrant and located items of significance to the incident. Police urge anyone who has any information to call them at (207) 874-8575.
Indecent Exposure during Rush Hour on Brighton Ave
On Wednesday, May 4th, 2023, Portland Police responded to a call at 915 Brighton Avenue for a suspect on his front porch, wearing nothing but shoes, while engaging in indecent conduct. There was heavy traffic at 8:52 a.m., and several occupants of cars witnessed the suspect’s actions, prompting a 911 call.
Police say the man has an extensive history of indecent conduct and assaultive criminal behavior. Police made an arrest and charged Visual Sexual Aggression Against a Child Under 14 and Indecent Conduct.
