This St. Patrick’s Day, West End musicians Bethany Waickman and Nicole Rabata will take the stage at One Longfellow Square for an evening of traditional Irish music.
After 15 years of performing together and recording on each other’s solo albums, flute player Nicole Rabata of Thomas Street and Boston-based fiddler Ellery Klein decided a group together was long overdue. With the addition of guitarist Bethany Waickman of Brackett Street, they formed the trio, Fódhla.
On St. Patrick’s Day Fódhla will join Boston-based husband and wife duo Matt and Shannon Heaton for a night of rollicking jigs and timeless ballads featuring fiddle, flutes, guitars, whistles and bouzouki.
Ellery and Nicole honed their craft during years abroad in the Irish cities of Cork, Limerick, and Ennis. The trio is also influenced by the depths of Nicole’s classical music career, Ellery’s Americana sounds and Bethany’s soft-spoken, yet driving, guitar playing.
