Open House Marks New Fall Session and 25 Years in Business for The Language Exchange
September 12 | 80 Exchange St | 5:30 pm
The Language Exchange will host an Open House/Language Social to mark the upcoming start of a new fall session of language classes, workshops and cultural events. The Open House will be held on Tuesday September 12th. Mainstream Jazz Masters will provide music to accompany a fun evening of foreign language chit-chats.
It was 25 years ago that Valérie Guillet, a native of France, decided to launch The Language Exchange. It all began out of a tiny space on the corner of Exchange and Fore streets.
Today, the school has grown to include from 12 to 15 teachers. It is still on Exchange Street, but in a much larger space on upper Exchange. As always, the school retains the values at its core: sharing languages and cultures as a means to bridge the gap among cultures.
They offer four sessions of eight to ten week-long group classes per year locally. Also, the school provides occasional overseas programs. This fall’s session, which starts as early as September 25th, will feature group and individual classes in Modern Standard Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish. These courses are offered at a variety of levels from Beginner to Advanced. Additionally, learn about a week-long immersion program in Provence, in the south of France, for a group of 20 lucky students!
At the Open House
People are invited to stop by between 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Enjoy refreshments, good company and music by Mainstream Jazz Masters. And, everyone will have a chance to practice language skills, chat with instructors and have questions answered about upcoming classes.
Also, the Open House marks the deadline to take advantage of the 10% early registration discount on group classes. Finally, anyone present will be able to partake in a drawing to win a class or private lessons, or a few other language goodies to use during the fall session.
This information and much more can be found on the school’s Local Programs page at www.immersionprograms.com.
The Language Exchange welcomes anyone interested in foreign languages, travel, and cultures of the world to join. The school is located on Upper Exchange Street in the Old Port.
