Parking Ban Begins Tonight, No Trash Collection Tuesday or Wednesday
The City is urging residents to take this storm seriously, pay attention to news and weather updates, and make preparations today so that travel is not necessary tomorrow.
To that end, the City is implementing a Citywide Parking Ban beginning tonight, January 26th, at 10 p.m. and ending at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28th. During this ban, all vehicles left on city streets during these times will be towed at the owners expense. For more information on snow bans visit the City’s website, http://www.portlandmaine.gov/393/Snow-Bans.
The City is also announcing that there will be no solid waste collection on Tuesday and Wednesday. Collection will resume next week.
While West Enders are concerned, especially for older neighbors and others at risk, they are taking the blizzard in stride.
As West Ender Alex Jones put it, “Twenty-two inches of snow… whatever, we have had upwards of 32 inches of snow in the past. We have plows and stuff, we will be fine.”
