The Annual West End Halloween Parade is set to take place Saturday, October 31st. City Councilor Dave Marshal and West End resident Wynne Wirth are co-organizing this event with help from the ShoeString Theater.
Consider playing a part in this years’ parade by volunteering or walking. Drummers, musicians and performance artists are welcome to walk the route alongside community participants. The ShoeString Theater has even created paper mache puppets for volunteers to carry as they walk the parade route.
Other ways to get involved include manning the parade route or making a donation. Organizers hope to raise $1100 this year with the excess going towards future parades.
Participants should meet at the Reiche School playground at 166 Brackett Street at 5:30pm. Volunteers should meet at 5:00pm for a quick safety meeting before finding spots along the road. Marching will start at 6:15pm sharp. The route will follow the same route as it did last year.
Organizers are still looking for volunteers to man the parade route and donations to keep this tradition alive. For more information or to volunteer contact Wynne at wynneway@yahoo.com. Tax-deductible donations can be made out to Youth In Action and sent to 196 Brackett St, Apt. 1, 04102.
