West End Aging in Place Updates

You’ve hopefully all had a chance to read over the results of the Aging in Place survey that we did in the greater West End neighborhood.

Now, please come to hear about possible next steps for us. We have asked representatives of the newly formed Portland Area Villages to come explain their new endeavor.

Portland Area Villages (PAV) is a newly formed membership service organization dedicated to supporting seniors who wish to age in their homes. Their model is that of a hub and spoke arrangement. As such, individual neighborhood associations, like West End Community Action Network Aging in Place (WECANAIP), can partner with them to perform most of the administrative and management tasks involved in running a volunteer neighborhood network. The arrangement leaves the local associations free to provide the personal connections and support that is key to making this all work.

So come hear what they have done so far, and how we might envision working with them. Don’t forget to bring your questions, imagination and energy.
