at Lowdermilk Park in Naples, FL, reading the St. Patrick's Day edition of the WEN.
This photo was taken on Sunday, March 15th, when the 31st Annual St. Patrick's Day
parade took place in Naples - it lasted for an hour and a half, and thousands of lawn
chairs lined the parade route for 2-3 hours before the parade began. The celebrations
continued for next three days, finally winding down on Wednesday morning.   4-1-09

West Ender Caroline Gavin learning how to snowboard - and read the West End NEWS at the same time - at
Maine Handicapped Skiing in the Sunday River Ski Resort. This picture was taken by a volunteer instructor
who had to take a few shots, as the wind kept blowing the WEN pages out of Caroline’s hands!
The helmet is the result of about five years of various additions. Several times over those five years, a volunteer
instructor has declared it "wig day" for the following week. The hairpieces are held on with a lei (from the
group’s spring "Hawaiian shirt day") and duct tape. The hula hoop behind Caroline is held between the
instructor and the student. According to Caroline, Maine Handicapped Skiing is the highlight of her year, and a
simply fabulous program!                      4-7-09
